Hi... There is a publication resource which lists the films currently in the public domain. All I know is that it is not cheap. Anybody know the name of this publication and how to obtain it? Also: Just for the sake of asking: Anyone know if Vittorio Di Sica's "The Bicycle Thief" is PD? Thanks a bunch.

You're thinking of the Film Superlist. It is not complete or entirely accurate, however, its an excellent starting place for research.

Very true. Film Superlist is a good place to start although volumes are quite expensive. Another place to start is http://www.copyright.gov/records/cohm.html. This is a good place to investigate U.S. film titles from the mid to late 1950s.

Bicycle Thief. I'm not sure of the status of this film, but I believe it is still under copyright in Italy meaning that it is under copyright in the U.S.
